Brazilian Music

It’s known that Brazilian music is one of the most well-composed music styles. The rhythm of samba and somewhat bossa nova is very attractive. But truth is just a small percentage of Brazilian listen regularly to these music styles.
So, what do we really listen to?
Well, a large number of Brazilian people like Axé and Funk. And, believe me, this funk has nothing in common with the American funk. In terms of musicality, both Axé and funk are very weak indeed. They’re played mostly in micareta, which is kind of a party for people to drink, dance and make out… with strangers…
A few listen to national Heavy Metal, which can be good. Sepultura, Tuatha de Danann and Torture Squad, for instance.
Furthermore, there is also national Rock/Pop Rock, which is moderately fine (but this is just my opinion), música caipira e regional (countrified music), and lately most Brazilians have been listening to sertanejo universitário. I might set it as a mix of música caipira and Pop Rock, but, if you compare it individually with each one, there is a lot of difference.
There are other ones, national hip hop for instance, but these are the most common. Most part of Brazilians prefer Axé, Funk and Sertanejo Universitário. Unfortunately, only a few do listen to the other styles, such as sambabossa nova and Heavy Metal.

You can search`em on Youtube to listen to and learn more. Enjoy!
